BFF Aims to Utilize All FIFA Windows for Women’s Football

Mahfuza Akter Kiran, the chairperson of the Bangladesh Football Federation’s women’s committee, announced today that the local governing body plans to organize FIFA friendly matches for the women’s team during all FIFA windows.

In 2023, the Bangladesh team participated in four friendly matches, facing Nepal and Singapore twice each, and played three competitive matches in the Asian Games. Out of these seven games, the women’s team won two matches against Singapore in December, drew three times against Nepal, and faced losses against Japan and Vietnam.

Reflecting on the events of 2023, Kiran expressed satisfaction, referring to the adage “all is well that ends well,” and expressed optimism about the upcoming year for women’s football in Bangladesh.

“We have several engagements lined up in 2024, including the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship and AFC U-17 Women’s Championship Qualifiers scheduled for February and March. The senior SAFF Women’s Championship is set to take place in September-October in Bangladesh,” Kiran stated. “We are well-prepared for these championships.”

She added, “We will also utilize all FIFA windows to compete against strong opponents. Our goal is to win all matches to improve the women’s team’s ranking in Asia.” As an AFC executive committee member, Kiran mentioned that Saiful Bari Titu would serve as the head coach for various age-group teams.
